I've had to rewrite this thing three times already because AI is evolving faster than a cat chasing a laser pointer. Surprise, surprise! OpenAI just dropped their latest brainchild—Deep Research. It's like the Beyoncé of AI, stealing the spotlight! This is probably their way of saying, "Hey, China, we see your Deepseek model and raise you one!"

smart, fast model.
available in ChatGPT and API.
it can search the web, and it shows its thinking.
available to free-tier users! click the "reason" button.
with ChatGPT plus, you can select "o3-mini-high", which thinks harder and gives better answers.

Prediction: From now on we'll rarely hear the phrase "writer's block." 99% of the people experiencing it will give in after a few days and have AI write them a first draft. And the 1% who are too proud to use AI are probably also too proud to use a phrase like "writer's block."

deepseek's r1 is an impressive model, particularly around what they're able to deliver for the price.
